Layered Clay Walnut Bar Wall Hanging
We partnered with craftsman Jeff Kirshenman to design a walnut bar to support a layered clay wall hanging. We are so thrilled with the result! Utilizing the same techniques as Melissa shares in her original workshop, this wall hanging comes together with creativity, a bit of time (perfect for getting lost in the process), and that wonderful satisfaction of rolling, molding and shaping the tactile medium of clay. Each walnut bar is carefully planed with a slightly rounded edge and sanded to a smooth finish.
Melissa is the co-founder of A Question of Eagles, a home goods based business with an emphasis on handmade, heirloom quality ceramics. Hand carving patterns into clay is a defining feature of A Question of Eagles’s pottery and we love how it her technique looks like a hanging piece of art.
This box includes:
- two pounds (one pound each of terra cotta and white) clay
- a 12″ walnut bar with 5 spaced holes (slightly bigger than our brass wall hanging bar)
- a length of jute
- washi tape & paper to hold protective paper for your work surface
Please note that this add-on kit is only available to those that have participated in Melissa’s Low Relief Clay Carving workshop.
