Organic Hand Dyed Linen Yarn
$14
Our sport-weight linen yarn is made of flax fiber, a material sustainably sourced across four locations in Europe that allow for a damp climate and rich soil resulting in excellent flax quality. Its ‘wet spun’ distinction means that these fibers travel through a unique milling process resulting in a smooth, beautiful yarn that’s silky to the touch and highly prized for its texture. To accomplish this, mills use a varying combination of heat, humidity, and water throughout the spinning process.
The artisanal mills that produce this special linen yarn have existed for generations because of their wonderful reputation of excellence in high-quality, fine yarn production. The small-batch process described above means that batch yarns may vary in shades of color and thickness. If you’ve taken our original Basket Weaving Workshop, Anne uses this wet spun linen yarn to create several beautiful baskets. If you enjoyed the process of coiling, stitching, and building and are ready for a larger project or even additional smaller baskets, we offer nine additional colors of our favorite wet spun organic linen yarn so you can keep making in Anne’s technique.
