Kakishibu Persimmon-Dyed Sashiko Exploration
We’ve sourced some absolutely beautiful hand-dyed persimmon tannin sashiko thread from Japan. This materials kit includes three custom thread skeins paired with a set of eight linen-cotton sampler squares. This sashiko kit is ideal for pairing with our original Sashiko Workshop led by Jessica Marquez which teaches the basics of sashiko.
Our hand-dyed persimmon sashiko thread bundle includes one each of a slate, true persimmon, and straw color. Each is variated by nature and dye batch, all are dyed with persimmon with varying techniques to produce natural colors. This thread is treated with a natural varnish that has been used as an antiseptic and water-proof coating in Japan for thousands of years. After being exposed to ultra-violet rays, oxidation, temperature, and humidity, the thread gradually changes colors. Enjoy the natural change of color with time.
